The University of Manchester at Harwell provides a range of services including equipment development, testing and experiment and data analysis support.
Our services cover the following core aspects:
- Matching of researcher needs to suitable national facilities and help with the design of experiments and creation of proposal applications.
- The provision of equipment, equipment development and manufacture relating to new sample holders, sample environments and in situ rigs.
- The processing and analysis of data sets generated from facility science experiments, particularly those involving 3D imaging. We can support the entire data processing pipeline from reconstruction to quantified data.
- Lab X-ray Computed Tomography scanning capabilities through our Harwell-based Nikon XTH 225 ST.
Data analysis
Our service covers the entire digital data processing workflow, from reconstruction to visualisation. We deliver the measurements and metrics you require, so you can focus on the science.
X ray CT scanning
Our laboratory system is available to scan your samples and reveal its internal details in three dimensions non-destructively.
Rig and containment cell development
Development of custom rigs and containment cells for extreme environments, e.g. for high pressure applications, use with energetic materials or containing of radioactive and/or toxic materials.
Beamtime experiment support
Support from application, experiment preparation to equipment operation during beamtime.
